Risks of Using Essential Oils

These days, essential oils are all the rage- and there’s a good reason why. After all, they truly are a natural remedy that is extremely powerful. However, there seems to be some worrisome advice online regarding these oils. This is why more and more people are turning to Canadian hydrosols.

They contain the same power as their essential oil counterparts, but are much milder and safer- especially when it comes to use with children and women. A hydrosol is the result of the steam distillation process for essential oils.

There are many uses for oils and many people use them on a daily basis in natural cleaning recipes, aromatically, in natural beauty products and more. There’s nothing wrong with them at all, you must have to be very careful when you use them because of their strength. You must be sure to take the time to dilute them so that you can be sure you and your family are using them safely and properly.

Following is some information you should know about essential oils before using them. In addition, you may wish to check with your physician or a certified herbalist/aromatherapist.

1)    Did you know that you need 256 pounds of peppermint leaves to create just one pound of peppermint essential oil?

2)    Did you know that you need at least 150 pounds of lavender to make just one pound of lavender essential oil?

3)    Did you know that you need over 1000 of pounds of roses to create just one pound of rose essential oil?

This is why essential oils are so concentrated. Just a few drops of an essential oil usually has the same properties/qualities that many cups of herbal tea from the same plant contains. In fact, it has been stated that just one drop of peppermint oil contains the same properties of about 26 cups of peppermint tea. Of course, this is not saying that you should not use essential oils, only that you should be using them very carefully- and make sure that you get all the necessary information before starting with them.

On the other hand, perhaps you’d be interested in using Canadian hydrosols instead. They are exactly like their essential oil counterparts in the properties they contain, but are much milder and safer to use.
